With FF7 specifically, Square didn't want to spend the money necessary to produce their games on cartridges. While Sony definitely did their part and made some anti-consumer decisions, putting most of the blame on Sony doesn't make sense. Sony, however, was definitely in the wrong for making Tomb Raider 2 and 3 exclusive. 5D Chess with Multiverse Time Travel (stylized in start case) is a 2020 chess variant video game released for Microsoft Windows, macOS, and Linux by American studio Thunkspace. For instance, Sega had to get out of the console business because of many self-inflicted wounds. I don't disagree that Sony used their muscle to make some games exclusive, but there were also extenuating circumstances around some of them.

Sure, Playstation got many major games during the PS3 gen, but Xbox had dozens of exclusives and timed exclusives, especially in the first half of the gen.

That's the main difference with the PS4 generation. I don't know why people who mainly play on PS consoles are always viewed as lesser. No one likes games being taken off their platform of choice. MS has now made Bethesda games exclusive and will likely do so with Activision games aside from COD. The PS4 was the only gen where they got a high percentage of games that were produced, which was mainly because of Microsoft's massive mistakes early in the gen. Sony wasn't getting every game in previous generations by default.
You continue to be completely wrong in this regard. This acquisition likely won't lead to many exclusives in the next five years, but the rumored Blizzard survival game will almost certainly be Xbox/PC only. I believe there have been rumors of new Crash and Spyro games, but nothing substantive.
Unfortunately, you couldn't make that argument for many of their other titles. In 2d, laying out a network of roads (or a circuit board) without unwanted intersections is hard. For most of the process, the argument was that COD was an essential input. A closed planar curve partitions a plane into an inside and outside, but in 3d a bug trapped inside a circle can simply hop out. Jim Ryan definitely didn't do himself any favors, but I don't know if they could have properly focused on all games.
